This award goes to a health care professional who makes a positive impact on social media through platforms such as Twitter, TikTok and Instagram. The awardee makes content accessible to patients and acts as a trusted resource for their peers amidst the din of social media.
Lifetime Disruptor, presented with Women in Endoscopy:
This award is presented to a physician who consistently pushed the field forward through innovative treatments, practice management, patient care or research. The awardee mentors and fosters the next generation of leaders, guiding them in their own disruptive talents.
Rising Disruptive Innovator, presented in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic:
This award goes to an up-and-coming physician who is already disrupting the status quo in the field whether it be through new techniques, new thoughts, questioning methods or breakthrough research.
Clinical Innovation Award, presented with the American College of Gastroenterology:
This award goes to a physician or institution that changed the face of the gastroenterology practice. The awardee is seen as an example of how patient care can be bettered through changes in administration, technique or the delivery of value-based care.
Woman Disruptor of the Year, presented with Scrubs & Heels:
This award goes to a woman who leads the field, setting an example to younger women of how a successful career can unfold. The awardee may have a career of positive disruption or more recent advancements through which she has made a positive impact within the specialty.
Healio Health Equity Award, presented with the World Gastroenterology Organisation:
This award goes to a physician who has made meaningful change to overcome the social determinants of health in gastroenterology. The awardee is seen a model of how identifying and addressing barriers can better patient care.
Partner in Practice, presented with the ROME Foundation:
This award is presented to an allied health provider whose innovative approaches have improved patient outcomes or quality of care. These providers work in areas such as gastro-psych, nutrition, etc. or are advanced practitioners within gastroenterology.
The Patient Voice Award, presented with ABGH:
This award, given in collaboration with the Association for Black Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists, goes to a patient advocate or advocacy group that moved the needle on a disease with regard to discussion in the public sphere, better communication between patients and providers and/or advocacy for legislative or regulatory action (drug approvals, insurance coverage, etc.).
Healio Industry Breakthrough Award:
This award goes to a product that stands out as a major disruption to the practice of gastroenterology. The awardee will have been acknowledged in practice guidelines and enthusiastically integrated into practice by practicing gastroenterologists.
