Original work
All photographs submitted must be entirely your own work. Entries must not contain images, elements or content created by another person, sourced from the internet, taken from stock libraries or included within software packages.

Images must also not contain any content generated or significantly altered using artificial intelligence. Basic editing adjustments — such as cropping, exposure correction and colour balancing — are permitted, but entries must remain a truthful representation of the original scene and must not mislead the viewer.

Photographs previously entered into other competitions may be submitted. However, images that have already won, been shortlisted, commended or placed in a national or international photography competition are not eligible. Images currently awaiting results in another national or international competition may also not be entered.

By submitting an entry, you confirm that your photograph has not received — and will not receive — such recognition during the course of this competition. All shortlisted and winning entries may be subject to verification checks before final results are announced. Decanter reserves the right to disqualify any entry that breaches these rules.

Intellectual property and usage rights
Copyright remains with the photographer at all times.

By entering the competition, you grant Decanter and any associated sponsors or media partners a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use your submitted image in connection with the competition for a period of 12 months following the competition closing date.

This may include use in print and digital publications, promotional and marketing materials, press coverage, exhibitions, email newsletters, social media channels and publicity relating to this or future Decanter photography competitions.

Decanter and its partners may make minor adjustments to images for presentation purposes, including resizing or cropping where necessary. Any such edits will respect the integrity of the original photograph and will not alter it beyond recognition.
