Question Title

* 1.
The study, “Dancing Motherhood: Contexts and Perspectives of 21st Century Mothers Working in Dance,” is a research project about women’s negotiations of their careers in dance with pregnancy and/or motherhood. Participation in this study consists of an online survey which will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Some participants will also be asked to participate in a virtual (video conference or phone) 60-90 minute follow-up interview. Your participation is completely voluntary. You can stop answering questions at any time and can skip any questions you do not wish to answer.

Your contribution to this research will support an ongoing and growing discussion about how to better support pregnant women and mothers working in dance. The results of this study will published in the book Dancing Motherhood: Contexts and Perspectives of 21st Century Working Mothers in Dance, under contract with Routledge, and will be released in 2022. While there are no direct individual benefits to participating in the survey portion only, collectively, this research seeks to benefit all participants who continue to work in dance, their colleagues and supervisors, and dance institutions and organizations. Interviewed participants will receive compensation in the form of a $20 Starbucks electronic (emailed) gift card.

No one other than the researcher associated with this project will have access to the raw data. All related documentation will be stored either in a locked file cabinet in the researcher’s office or on a password protected computer. In order to protect professional reputations and relationships, I will assign randomly selected pseudonyms for all participants to be used in public written, published, and presented components of the research. Your name will not be linked to any documentation and any use of this material in reports, publications or presentations will never be associated with participants in this study without permission.
