The City of Anacortes, in collaboration with First Forty Feet, a Portland-based urban design firm, is engaging the community in the conceptual design of Commercial Avenue as the heart of downtown. This effort includes streetscape and wayfinding improvements to create a Downtown Loop connecting key destinations and activity areas, as well as identifying a Crosstown Connection that provides a complementary walking, biking, and rolling route linking downtown to surrounding destinations beyond a five-minute walk.
Below is the project timeline and a summary of the community engagement process guiding the development of the Downtown Streetscape Plan. Your input will help confirm the project vision and guiding principles and provide feedback on preliminary “big ideas” and concepts for making downtown safer, more vibrant, and uniquely Anacortes.
This survey builds on the engagement process that began with a public workshop on January 21 at the City Hall Council Chambers. If you already completed this survey at the event or would like to update a previous response, please contact John Coleman, Director of Planning, Community and Economic Development, at johnc@anacorteswa.gov.
The survey will remain open until February 27 at 8:00 p.m.
