Are you inspired by multicultural experiences, passionate about creating meaningful gatherings, and eager to shape the future of our profession? We're assembling a dynamic team to plan the 2027 AASECT Annual Conference, and we'd love for you to join us! Consider becoming part of the Conference Program Planning Committee and help us design a vibrant, inclusive, and impactful event.
Why Volunteer?
- Build Connections: Work alongside industry professionals and expand your network.
- Develop Skills: Gain valuable experience in event planning, logistics, marking, and more.
- Make an Impact: Contribute to shaping AASECT's largest yearly event - one that inspires and educates others.
At AASECT, we value accessibility and understand that attending a national conference may present financial barriers. As a member of the Conference Program Planning Committee, your contribution is deeply appreciated - and we're committed to reducing those barriers by covering travel and lodging. We ask that you apply with a genuine interest in supporting the conference and its mission, rather than solely for the accessibility accommodations.
The committee will begin 1-hour meetings virtually once a month starting in the fall, shifting to bi-weekly meetings in January 2027. Of course, your presence at the AASECT 2027 Annual Conference is required. Depending on your role, you may also have a few additional meetings outside of the main committee that are aligned with your unique responsibilities. Some administrative tasks - such as reviewing documents, making selections, and contributing to key conference decisions - will also be part of your commitment.
Who Should Apply?
- Enthusiastic individuals who are organized, creative, and willing to work collaboratively.
- Members of historically and presently oppressed, marginalized, or underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Professionals and students alike who are eager to contribute to a meaningful conference.
- Previous event planning is a plus, but not required.
