Purpose

In alignment with HB25-1278, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), in collaboration with state partners, is developing training and resources to strengthen school board governance related to:

● District & School Performance Frameworks (DPF/SPF)
● Accreditation ratings and pathways
● Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) approval and monitoring
● Collaboration with District Accountability Committees (DACs)
● Ongoing oversight of district improvement efforts

This brief survey will help inform the future design of practical tools, guidance documents, and training opportunities.

Guidance for Board Members

Board members are encouraged to respond based on your own experience and understanding of Colorado’s accreditation system and Unified Improvement Planning (UIP) process. Please reflect on your current level of knowledge, confidence, and the types of support that would help you more effectively fulfill your governance responsibilities related to approval, oversight, and monitoring of district improvement efforts.

Guidance for Superintendents & Charter School Leaders

Superintendents and School Leaders are encouraged to respond based on your perspective of your current board’s knowledge, confidence, and support needs related to Colorado’s accountability system and unified improvement plan oversight responsibilities. Please answer considering what would most strengthen your board’s governance capacity.
