Current driver licensing rules for minibuses, particularly the requirement to hold a category D1 licence, are a significant contributing factor. The number of people holding D1 entitlement is declining and the sector is increasingly reliant on an ageing pool of drivers. Without change, many Community Transport services face cuts, disruption or closure.
CTA is seeking members’ views on the current D1 licensing framework and on a range of possible options for change. The evidence gathered through this survey will be used to inform a CTA position paper and our engagement with governments across the UK.
This survey is open to all CTA members across the UK. You do not need detailed technical knowledge of D1 licensing rules to take part. Please answer based on your organisation’s experience and your own perspective.
The survey should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete and will close to responses on Friday 24 April.
