Public Feedback ~ Library Card Access: Pilot at the Central Library |
The Hamilton Public Library (HPL) Board endorsed a motion at the March 11, 2026 meeting to implement a temporary access change to Central Library. Starting March 16, 2026 HPL Staff will scan Members’ Library cards to access Central Library. Library Cards are not required to enter the Library or access the area around the Social Workers or the Information Desk where Staff help visitors register for a Library Card if they do not already have one.
The goal of this pilot program is to test if this temporary process can be used in future instances when the Central Library is experiencing high levels of substance use and suspected overdoses and to help reduce these situations without the need to close Central Library.
As part of the evaluation HPL is seeking feedback on the pilot. Please share your comments and tell us about your experiences visting the Library during the pilot.
The survey does not contain personal-identifying questions. We are not collecting any information that can identify you.
