YWCA Glendale & Pasadena has joined together to deepen its community impact to empower girls in Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank and all surrounding school districts.

By promoting assertive self-expression, teaching important life skills, and allowing the practice of leadership in a variety of settings, this unique and transformational pre-high school summer program inspires girls to reach their full potential. In this girl-centered space, campers have an opportunity to express themselves while building new friendships and making connections with women entrepreneurs and role models.

Our 2022 in-person summer program emphasizes girls’ empowerment through workshops that celebrate the value of exploring and validating girls' identities and experiences. Workshops include discussing healthy relationships, life skills, technology and art projects, group trust and bonding exercises, and physical activity.

Girls will prepare for the future through the YWCA's national program, YW Strive for Teens. This series will deepen their leadership and digital skills, tools for success, and financial literacy in activities that value identity and diversity. Looking to the future will include diverse women guest speakers, potential college campus tours, entrepreneurship and civic engagement. Campers that complete YW Strive will be awarded with a Certificate of Completion in recognition of their leadership on their pathways to success in obtaining future volunteer, internship, job or college opportunities.
