Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey by the Canadian Women's Heart Health Alliance. It will take less than 10 minutes to complete. Your comments are very important to us.

Our objective: What are we looking for?

We are looking to find out where and how women are connecting with/accessing other women after a heart disease diagnosis or heart event for peer support so we can connect women with existing program/group/supports that are right for them. Our main objective is to facilitate access to peer support to help them in their recovery and/or life with the disease.

Key Criteria for inclusion:
In order to qualify for possible inclusion in our compendium, a program or group must meet the following criteria:
  • They must meet the general definition of peer support as follows: "Peer support is emotional and practical support between people who share a common experience, such as a mental health challenge or illness.” Source: Peer Support Canada.
  • We are only looking for peer support programs and groups that specifically serve women with heart disease, defined as any condition affecting the heart. It does not include stroke or vascular conditions. This would include programs or groups that are specifically for, or include women and facilitate connection, and may be:
    • Structured or informal programs
    • Developed and/or led by healthcare professionals, communities, or women with lived experience
  • There are no restrictions on how the group meets- it can be virtual or in-person
  • The group must be founded in Canada, serving women in Canada and relevant to Canada’s health care system
