Welcome

Dear Thunder Bay and Oliver Paipoonge residents,

We warmly greet you as you participate in the Citizen's Satisfaction and Trust survey, a research initiative by Dr. Akca and his team on behalf of the Thunder Bay Police Service. The primary objective of this survey is to gain insights into your perception of the Thunder Bay Police Service, focusing on your trust and satisfaction with the services they provide. This will enable the Thunder Bay Police Service to train the police officers better. Additionally, this will give Thunder Bay and Oliver Paipoonge residents a voice in social justice-related issues. Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary, and you retain the right to withdraw at any point before submission. If you discontinue the survey, close the Survey Monkey platform without clicking the submit button.
Rest assured that the information gathered through this survey will remain strictly anonymous. Only non-identifying data, such as postal code, gender, ethnicity, and similar demographic information, will be collected for analytical purposes. The data provided by participants like yourself will be diligently collected and analyzed, forming the basis of a comprehensive final report. The data will be stored for 7 years with Dr. Akca and destroyed after.

Please note that the online survey tool used in the study (Survey Monkey) is hosted by a server located in the USA. The US Patriot Act permits U.S. law enforcement officials, for anti-terrorism investigations, to seek a court order that allows access to the personal records of any person without the person's knowledge. In view of this we cannot guarantee the full confidentiality and anonymity of your data. With your consent to participate in this study, you acknowledge this.

The finalized report will be available for public access on various social media platforms affiliated with the Thunder Bay Police Service. If you have any questions or concerns during the survey process, please feel free to contact Mustafa Mohammad at msmohamm@lakeheadu.ca (905) 518 8440 or Dr. Akca dakca@lakeheadu.ca (807) 343-4010 ext. 2648. Additionally, for any inquiries about research ethics or if you wish to communicate with an individual outside the research team, please contact Sue Wright at the Research Ethics Board via 807-343-8010 ext. 8283 or research@lakeheadu.ca.
