2026 Caring Heart

Purpose:
St. Joseph Hospital honors nurses that collectively and collaboratively exhibit the skills, expertise, and personal attributes that enhance to the delivery of exceptional patient care. Nominees demonstrate clinical excellence within their nursing practice and develop innovative approaches that improve patient outcomes. They engage respectfully and professionally with the interdisciplinary team, elevating the nursing profession and consistently embodying the St. Joseph Hospital core values: Compassion, Integrity, Collaboration and Excellence.
The Caring Heart Award honors a Licensed Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Patient Service Representative whose clinical excellence and compassionate approach to care set the standard for outstanding role modeling. This award recognizes individuals who consistently demonstrate a positive attitude, exceed the expectations of their role, and embody efficiency, reliability, professionalism, and teamwork. Nominees of the Caring Heart Award take the time to truly know their patients as individuals, building meaningful rapport and fostering trust. They are attentive to patient needs—whether by ensuring comfort, promptly communicating with the nurse, or taking extra steps or offering reassurance. Their commitment to patient comfort and dignity enhances the overall care experience. Through strong collaboration with the healthcare team and clear, respectful communication, they contribute to a supportive environment focused on exceptional patient-centered care.
Eligibility: The nominee must be a LNA, MA, or PSR at St. Joseph Hospital.
Process: Any employee, physician, patient or volunteer may nominate. Recipients will be selected based on evidence provided by completion of the nomination criteria.
Award: Award winners will be announced and presented during Nurses’ Week.
Deadline: All nominations must be received by April 18, 2026.
Instructions: Please cite specific examples including patient and physician comments. Expectation is to have at least 3-4 paragraphs to support this nominee. Failure to provide multiple, specific examples may result in disqualification of nomination.
