LGBTQI2S+ AYA Cancer Community Needs Assessment
Escape, as an empowerment based LGBTQI2S+ Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer organization, is working to provide a literal escape from all that comes with going through cancer as a sexual and/or gender minority. You deserve a safe haven where you can be in community with peers who share your experience on a deeper level.
Elephants & Tea and Escape are working in collaboration to address the needs of the LGBTQI2S+ cancer community. Our collaboration is founded by our shared values of creating space in cancer care that is safe for self expression and building community through centering the patient voice. The questions below were created by LGBTQI2S+ cancer community members within Escape and allies at Elephants & Tea for us to better understand your needs and where additional support is needed to meet your needs.
Your responses will be specifically supporting Escape in the expansion of our offerings. The Needs Assessment will inform the education we offer partnered organizations and medical institutions so they can provide more inclusive healthcare. We want to see where we are as both an organization and in healthcare, and identify where we need to go to cover important gaps.
These questions may not speak to everyone’s experience as a cancer patient or caregiver. And if there are questions you would have liked to see in this assessment, we would love your feedback and hear how we can better support you. Please share in question 22 or email us at escape.yac@gmail.com. This is an anonymous needs assessment and all responses will remain confidential between Elephants & Tea and Escape and will not be shared or sold to any outside parties.
You must be over the age of 18 and living in the United States to participate.
