Zoo Futures Teen Conservation Program Interest Form

The Zoo Futures teen conservation program is a summer-only opportunity that runs from June 15 to August 13.

Zoo Futures is a ongoing summer program that supports middle school students each year through hands-on STEM research and career exploration. Students can choose to participate up to three summers. In the first year, participants meet at the Zoo to explore conservation science, environmental quality measurement, and a wide range of STEM careers connected to zoo operations. During the second year, students apply their skills in the field by monitoring the health of waterways within the Cape Fear River basin. In the third year, returning students step into mentor roles, using the knowledge and experience they gained in years one and two to lead activities and support new participants as they begin their own STEM journey.

Before you begin, make sure you and your parent/guardian have read and understand what’s involved in being a member of this summer program. While participation for all three years is not required, it is encouraged!
