The Omnibus IV (Simplification Package for SMEs and Small Mid-Caps Enterprises) and the Digital Omnibus (Omnibus VII) aim to simplify EU’s digital laws to relieve companies, particularly SMEs, from the potential risk of excessive regulatory burden.
While the EDPB supports effective and simplified digital regulation, it has expressed concerns that the proposed changes may affect individuals’ fundamental data protection rights. Given the uncertainty that the Omnibus IV and VII packages have created, CEDPO considers it very valuable that its community of data protection practitioners would contribute their views on these important matters.
Now that several drafts are available, CEDPO would like to understand how the proposed Omnibus IV and Digital Omnibus VII can hinder or help your work as a DPO and whether or not you believe the changes are balanced, having regard to their potential impact on fundamental rights.
Please share your thoughts by answering the following questions.
Your feedback will greatly help CEDPO to put forward the informed position of DPOs on the Digital Omnibus proposal to the European institutions.
Thank you very much in advance for your help!
