Intro: Thank you for participating in Councilmember David Ryu’s survey polling our constituents about the Wilshire Closure options we have to choose from for the upcoming Purple Line work being done at Wilshire and La Brea.

Background:  The Purple Line subway currently under construction stretches from Downtown westward with the eventual intent of reaching the Pacific Ocean.  As Metro moves forward with constructing the Purple Line subway there will be occasional disruptions along its route as construction occurs.  On Wilshire Boulevard at La Brea, a major disruption will occur starting in March 2016 when full street closures will be required for pile drilling and decking work which needs to occur.  We have limited control over this work, its timeline, or the disruption it will cause, however Metro is asking the community to decide between two time frames for the work to occur: (Option 1) 16 weekend closures or (Option 2) 7 weeks of full closure, including those weekends.

There will also be 6 weekend closures required for the area west of La Brea.
That work is required for both Option 1 and Option 2. West La Brea decking is detailed below.

West La Brea Decking: 6 weekend closures
      - 3 weekend closures of the Wilshire/La Brea intersection
      - 3 weekend closures from west of La Brea intersection to Detroit St.
      - Work will be continuous from 9pm Friday night until Monday morning at 6am.

Please review the details on those options below and at the supporting links and choose one of the options on the next page as your preferred approach for Metro to complete its work.
