Looking Ahead to Vancouver 2027
The next CCSTA conference is scheduled to occur on June 3 – 5, 2027, in the beautiful city of Vancouver. Looking ahead, we at CCSTA are asking ourselves an important question: how can we ensure the success of our annual national bilingual conference, if participation by many Catholic school board trustees and/or senior leaders remains limited because of legislated changes and/or budgetary constraints?
This situation invites us to consider new approaches and expand our network of collaboration. The 2027 conference could become a unique opportunity to pilot bringing together a broader range of partners committed to the mission of Catholic education. In particular, we could consider inviting diocesan leaders, representatives from provincial and national organizations, Catholic partner organizations beyond Canada, and/or more school and/or senior administrators from school boards. By broadening our reach, we could foster enriching exchanges on leadership, governance, evangelization, faith formation, and the common challenges facing Catholic communities in North America. This approach would also help maintain the relevance and vitality of the national conference, while creating new opportunities for partnership and innovation.
Current challenges both require us to rethink certain established models and offer us an opportunity to build bridges, expand our influence, and strengthen our shared mission in service to students, families, and our Catholic communities. As we look ahead to the future, we seek your input on some questions related to Vancouver 2027.
