PETITION Against the Alto High-Speed Rail Southern Corridor Through Rideau Lakes Township Survey

We, the undersigned residents, taxpayers, and visitors of Rideau Lakes Township, respectfully submit our opposition to the proposed southern corridor of the Alto High-Speed Rail project passing through our community. We stand united in our support of the Township Council's decision, made during the Committee of the Whole meeting on February 9, 2026, to reject the current plans for the Alto High-Speed Rail's proposed route.

WHEREAS, the Township of Rideau Lakes Council has taken a firm stance against the proposed corridor, deeming it detrimental to the community’s interests, and

WHEREAS, the residents of Rideau Lakes Township deserve an opportunity to voice their concerns about this project and its impact on our environment, community, and overall well-being,

We hereby petition the Government of Canada to:
1. Acknowledge and respect the wishes of the residents of Rideau Lakes Township as expressed through this petition.
2. Reconsider the proposed southern corridor of the ALTO High-Speed Rail, ensuring that the concerns of our community are addressed. Instead, consider accessing current transportation routes such as the 401 corridor thereby causing less impact to private homeowners, agricultural lands, and the environment.

By signing this petition, we show our collective opposition to the High-Speed Rail’s proposed route through Rideau Lakes Township and request that the federal government take action that aligns with the concerns and interests of the residents of this community.(Required.)
