The City of Utica is conducting a 90-day trial demonstration of a complete street along Genesee Street in Utica, from Cottage Place to Oriskany Street/5S.

A complete street is a design and engineering approach to roadways that plan, design, operate, and maintain safe, convenient, and comfortable travel and access for users of all ages and abilities regardless of their mode of transportation.

On Genesee Street, the trial will reduce the vehicle traveling lanes to one northbound and one southbound lane, add a center turning/delivery lane, and add one northbound and southbound bike lane to each side of the street. This temporary re-design will help the city gather data and feedback to determine the feasibility of future projects on Genesee Street.
