The priority areas included in this survey have been identified through earlier community planning and discussions involving KCA members. We have provided a short explanation of each area below to clarify what it covers and help you make informed choices. They are grouped by theme and presented in no particular order.
1. PLANNING & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Kinloch Community Structure Plan - Ensuring the Kinloch community is involved in any future review of the Structure Plan, including consideration of development and housing density.
Development contributions - Advocating for appropriate investment in Kinloch as the community grows, including investment funded through development contributions.
Relationship with local hapu - Building an effective and enduring relationship between the Kinloch community and local hapu.
Community communication and engagement - Improving the ways KCA keeps people informed, gathers community feedback and represents local views to Council and other organisations.
2. COMMUNITY FACILITIES & SERVICES
Multipurpose, centrally located community hub - Exploring the need for, and feasibility of, a centrally located multipurpose community facility.
Existing community hall - Considering the future use, development and improvement of the existing hall in the Kinloch Domain.
Early childhood education - Supporting the development of local early childhood education facilities. NB: Led by the Kinloch Families trust, Council consent has already been received for a facility in Seven Oaks and fundraising is underway.
Community noticeboard - Improving the community noticeboard and the way local information is displayed.
Kinloch Volunteer Fire Brigade - Identifying ways the community can continue to support the local volunteer fire service.
3. RESERVES, RECREATION & THE ENVIRONMENT
Kinloch reserves - Planning for the maintenance, improvement and future use of Kinloch’s reserves, including the Foreshore Reserve, Eastern Beach Esplanade and Domain Reserve.
Weed control - Managing invasive weed species around reserves, tracks and walkways.
Pest control - Supporting the management of animal pests in and around Kinloch.
Wilding pine management - Managing wilding pines and their effects on the local environment.
Streamside trails - Maintaining and enhancing Kinloch’s streamside trails.
Accessibility - Maintaining and improving accessibility at the lakefront and other community spaces, including the beach access mats.
Public drinking fountain - Considering the installation of a drinking fountain near the Foreshore Reserve or another appropriate location.
Rubbish and recycling facilities - Considering whether additional bins or other waste facilities are needed, particularly during peak holiday periods.
4. TRANSPORT & PARKING
Bus parking and passenger pick-up areas - Reviewing bus parking and passenger pick-up and drop-off locations.
Event and peak-period parking - Planning for parking during community events, busy holiday periods and times of high boat-trailer use.
