Why This Matters
The METRO Blue Line Extension is more than a transit project - it is a connection between communities, histories, and lived experiences.
Throughout the corridor, one unifying theme rises again and again:
The Blue Line Extension is a living corridor of culture, where every station reflects the stories, strengths, and spirit of the communities it serves — past, present, and future.
From north to south, each station’s design honors people, celebrates cultural identity, and uplifts the ways community members create, gather, migrate, heal, and belong.
Over the course of 2025, through a year-long collaborative process, community members, local artists, and public agency partners worked together to create Cultural Placekeeping Themes for each station along the route. These themes are meant to reflect the identities, stories, and values of the neighborhoods the Blue Line Extension will serve.
The concepts you will see are guiding themes developed with the community work group. These themes will be used to guide station designs alongside consideration of all community feedback received. Your feedback will help guide how these cultural themes are refined and integrated into station design so that each station feels welcoming, authentic, and rooted in community.
Please review each station theme and share your thoughts. Stations are listed north to south.
