This engaging and thought-provoking evening will explore diversity, equity, and inclusion in education while gently challenging how we think about the word disability. Through strength-based and responsive approaches, Shelley reframes disability as an identity rather than a deficit and encourages participants to reflect on their beliefs, assumptions, and everyday practices. Educators will leave feeling inspired, with a deeper understanding of inclusion and renewed ideas for creating welcoming, inclusive learning environments for all children.
Shelley is a teacher, researcher, and storyteller who brings inclusive education to life through meaningful stories drawn from her work with students, teachers, and families. Together, we will explore how understandings of inclusion have evolved and consider what it means to move from accommodating differences to designing learning environments that teach everyone.
