Welcome to the Veterans Health and Cannabis Citizen Science Study

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Veterans Health and Cannabis Citizen Science Study led by Cannabis Community Care and Research Network (C3RN) and UMass Dartmouth, in collaboration with Veterans Alternative Healing (VAH).

You are being asked to participate in a voluntary anonymous research study led by Cannabis Community Care and Research Network (C3RN) in collaboration with UMass Dartmouth. You will be able to see the results of your answers compared to others who have responded at the end of the survey and get discounts for medical cannabis products in Massachusetts!

This survey is intended to be taken by anyone over the age of 21 years who is a veteran of the United States military. The survey will ask questions related to your current health status, health treatment regimens and medications, current use of cannabis (if applicable), and issues related to the quality of life, access to insurance options, service history and demographics.

This form provides you with information about the study.  If you have questions about this study please email coordinator@c3researchnetwork.com. Your participation is entirely voluntary.  You can refuse to participate without penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled.  You can stop your participation at any time and your refusal will not impact current or future relationships with UMass Dartmouth or C3RN.  You may skip any questions that you are not comfortable answering. To discontinue participation you should close your internet browser window. Please print this consent form for your records.

In addition to contributing to policy and advocacy through this study as veterans, you will be able to see your results and how they compare to others who take the survey. You can also elect to learn more about an observational trial for cannabis and veterans led by Dr. Staci Gruber, McLean Hospital/Harvard. You will also receive discounts for the following registered medical cannabis dispensaries and topical CBD producer in Massachusetts for participating in this anonymous survey:

Revolutionary Clinics in Somerville and Cambridge, MA
The Botanist in Worcester, MA
BASK in Fairhaven, MA
INSA in Easthampton and Springfield, MA
Central Ave Compassionate Care, Ayer, MA
Healing Rose, CBD Products, Andover, MA

If you agree to be in this study, we will ask you to complete a 100+question survey. Total estimated time to participate in the study is less than 50 minutes. WE THANK YOU for your time and input! We will use the information you provide to provide recommendations for increasing national and local access to medical cannabis for veterans.

Risks of being in the study: Some questions are sensitive in nature, asking about your service history. You can stop the survey at any time if you do not want to answer any question.

Benefits of being in the study: Your participation helps to build the body of knowledge regarding medical cannabis patient and consumer preferences, benefits, information needs, stigma, and access to cannabis.

Your input will be used to further the evidence around Veterans health and medical cannabis use and its impact on health outcomes.  The project has also partnered with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) of Massachusetts for this survey. Anonymous data you share will be analyzed and a policy memo will be prepared for the DAV to be used for state and federal level advocacy to increase access to medical cannabis for Veterans who wish to have alternative options for managing their health conditions.  C3RN clinical study partners include Healer.com, Dr. Staci Gruber, and Dr. Ryan Zaklin.

You will now be redirected to ask consent to participate in this research study on the next screen.
