Nominations have been collected for the 2025 GCBBT Business Excellence Awards and voting is now open for the following award categories:

Customer Service Award
Excellence in Marketing Award
Local Impact Award
Qalipu Business of the Year Award
Employer of the Year Award
Rising Star Award
Youth Business of the Year Award
People's Choice Award


The deadline for submitting votes is 5:00 pm September 24th. Awards will be presented during the GCBBT Business Excellence Awards Gala on October 23rd.

All award category nominees will undergo a final review by a panel of business/community leaders.

1.Customer Service Award

Recipient of this award is a business that consistently demonstrates a high level of commitment to customer service and satisfaction. The business provides honest and approachable service to its customers, practices on-going employee training to deliver quality service and product expertise, is known for customer service and reliability, and attributes sales growth/employment results to its delivery of quality service. This company goes above and beyond what is expected.

The Customer Service Award should be awarded to (please select one of the following):
2.Excellence in Marketing Award

Recipient of this award is a business that has demonstrated a strong understanding of the importance of a vibrant and active marketing presence. This presence must be found in a minimum of three (3) areas and can include a company website, active Facebook account, active Etsy account , or other online presence - all of which have gathered a strong and established following. Businesses may also be involved in online sales.

The Excellence in Marketing Award should be awarded to (please select one of the following):
3.Local Impact Award

Recipient of this award is a business that has demonstrated a commitment to the community via community relations, volunteer involvement, and/or financial support of community based activities or groups. The business displays extraordinary social responsibility and enthusiasm by its total benefit to the community, amount of time, effort, and or any other form of leadership given in the community.

The Local Impact Award should be awarded to (please select one of the following):
4.Qalipu Business of the Year Award

Recipient of this award is a business which has demonstrated a dedication to business growth, a commitment to customer satisfaction, delivering quality products and services, and a strong supporter of their Mi’kmaq culture. The business owner must be a recognized member of the Qalipu First Nation Band.

The Qalipu Business of the Year Award should be awarded to (please select one of the following):
5.Employer of the Year Award

Recipient of this award is a business that has demonstrated excellence in business operations in a number of areas including marketing, business retention and expansion, human resources, customer service, production, innovation, community involvement, etc. The business is viewed by peers as being a leader and inspires the entrepreneurial spirit.

The Employer of the Year Award should be awarded to (please select one of the following):
6.Rising Star Award

Recipient of this award is a business that has been operating for 1-5 years and has demonstrated strong potential via growth, innovation, and leadership during the first years of operation. The business has demonstrated a culture of risk-taking and trailblazing and has positioned itself to achieve similar successes in the future.

The Rising Star Award should be awarded to (please select one of the following):
7.Youth Business of the Year Award

Recipient of this award is a youth (under 34 years of age) in recognition of their commitment to developing and operating a successful business. Eligible nominees may be completing their high school or post-secondary education. Success measures will vary depending on industry and may include revenue generation, customer validation, creativity, uniqueness, intellectual property, grants, awards, and scalability of the business model.

The Youth Business of the Year Award should be awarded to (please select one of the following):
8.People's Choice Award

Recipient of this award is a business that is a favorite of the community. It is awarded for simply being the most popular business in the community as deemed by local residents.
