1. About the survey

Same Chance Survey 2026

What is this survey about?
The aim of this year's Same Chance Survey is to understand the day-to-day experiences of Ireland's Autism community. You can send responses to the Survey until Tuesday 24th February.
Why is it helpful to take part in this survey?
The information you share data will feed into our Same Chance Report which we publish annually in April in time for World Autism Month. The Same Chance Report provides a snapshot of Autistic life in Ireland.
The more insight you choose to share, the better we can understand people’s experiences and work to support the Autistic community. Your voice helps us to:
  • Understand what you want to see in a future National Autism Strategy.
  • Develop AsIAm supports in response to the needs of the community.
  • Highlight our advocacy priorities throughout 2026 and beyond.
Who can complete this survey?
We know that some community members will answer for themselves, some with support, and some with an advocate or caregiver. With this in mind, we want to make sure that our data is as accurate as possible, and we will use the following terms:

  • "You/your" in the survey questions refers to an Autistic individual completing the survey
  • "Your Autistic family member" refers to your response on a family member's behalf. This can include a parent, guardian, caregiver or advocate.

If you are completing the survey on behalf of someone else, you are encouraged to include them in the process wherever possible.

You can also complete the survey more than once, for example on behalf of your own experience as an Autistic adult and for your Autistic family member, or if you have more than one Autistic person in your family.

How to complete the survey:
  • Estimated Time to Complete Survey: 40-45 minutes.
  • Survey Closes: Tuesday 24th February (11:59pm)

Please note: You do not have to complete every question in this Survey.

  • It is essential to answer questions marked with an asterisk (*) beside them.
  • You can skip questions that are not marked with an asterisk, if they do not relate to your experience.

However, if these questions do relate to your experience in any way - we would encourage you to also respond to these questions.

Anonymity Statement
This survey is intended to be anonymous. We do not request any personal data or record your email or IP address when you complete the survey.
Please help us protect the privacy of you, your Autistic family member and other people. When you answer the questions:
  • Do not include the name of you, or any other person.
  • Do not include details or descriptions that may identify you, or any another person.
