Program Overview
The Urban Conservation and Community Fellowship Program aims to identify high-potential individuals interested in working with community-based, non-profit organizations. Each UCC Fellow will be placed with a non-profit, community partner host organization and develop a twelve (12) month work plan in collaboration with the host, The Conservation Fund, and the UCC Fellowship Advisory Council.
The UCC Fellowship Program will provide full-time experience working at the community-scale, assisting communities in realizing park, trail, or other greenspace visions and related social, economic, and environmental benefits.

Location and Host Organization:
The Urban Conservation and Community Fellows will be integrated into Amigos de los Rios' team of Natural Infrastructure Fellows to provide support for expanding, designing, and implementing the ongoing Emerald Necklace landscape-scale conservation vision. They will focus on 3 key
priority areas:
- Advocate for, design, and implement river greenways along San Gabriel and Rio Hondo Rivers in eastern Los Angeles County, CA.
- Advocate for, design, and implement greening in disadvantaged and Title I schools in L.A.’s underserved urban communities.
- Natural infrastructure planning and climate resiliency work to promote long-term tree canopy and soil protection for Altadena to promote recovery from the catastrophic January 2025 Eaton Fire.

Fellows will realize these key priorities by leading community-based processes that integrate community voices throughout the project lifecycle.
