Thank you for your interest in applying to judge the APM Project Management Awards 2026. This is a rare and valuable opportunity for experienced project professionals to give something back by volunteering to be part of one of the project profession's most respected and prestigious awards.
Each category has a dedicated panel of up to five judges, some of our larger categories may have more than one panel. It is the role of the judge to allocate time to score each entry submitted under their given category(s). Judges are encouraged to apply for more than one category if possible.
Please note before applying that that depending on the category judged and the number of applications received, the time commitment for larger categories could be as much as 15 - 18 hours over a five-week period. In addition, stage two categories an afternoon or morning of online judging.
One Stage Categories
- Judges score written entries via Award Force between 11 June and 16 July, at their own pace.

Two stage Categories
- Stage one - Judges score written entries via Award Force between 11 June and 16 July, at their own pace.

- Stage two - Finalists present to judges via Microsoft Teams on a scheduled morning or afternoon (dates are listed below). Please note in categories with multiple panels, not all judges may be invited.
The Award categories are as follows:

Tier 1 – Project Organisations (1,500-2,500 words)

· Company of the Year (two stage judging)
· Small to Medium Enterprise of the Year (two stage judging)
· Not-for-profit Organisation of the Year (one stage judging)
· Public Sector Organisation of the Year (one stage judging)

Tier 2 – Projects and Programmes – (1,500-2,500 words – two stage judging)
· Engineering, Construction and Infrastructure Project of the Year
· Social Project of the Year
· Digital and Technology Project of the Year
· Transformation Project of the Year
· Programme of the Year

Tier 3 – Sustainability – (1,500-2,500 words – one Stage judging)
· APM Sustainability Award

Tier 4 – PMOs – (1,500-2,500 words – two stage judging)
· PMO of the Year

Tier 5 – Individuals – (1,000 words – two stage judging)
· Emerging Project Professional of the Year
· Project Professional of the Year
· Chartered Project Professional of the Year

Hosted Category – (1,500-2,500 words – one stage judging) Hosted by Shell
· Safe Project Management Award

Project Management Challenge - (Report maximum 6,000 words - two stage judging)
Key Dates:
This role has a number of key dates that we would appreciate you checking you are available for prior to application:
  • 8 June - Judges Training 13:00 GMT (1.5 hours online)
  • 11 June - 16 July - Judging takes place
  • 7 - 11 & 15 September - Stage two presentations (half a day online).
Stage two judging applies to the following categories**:
  • 7 September - Emerging Project Professional / PMO
  • 8 September - Project Professional / Small to Medium Enterprise/ 8th or 9th Chartered Project Professional
  • 9 September - Company / Programme / Chartered Project Professional (likely to be early evening presentations)
  • 10 September - Transformation / Digital & Technology
  • 11 September - Social / Engineering, Construction & Infrastructure
  • 15 September - Project Management Challenge
*On completion of all judging assignments, judges will be entered into a ballot, where a number of tickets have been allocated for judges to attend the APM Awards ceremony to be held on 16 November at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London. Travel expenses or overnight accommodation are not included. It is not a requirement for judges to attend the ceremony.
