2024 ACRL/Core Academic Library Facilities Survey

The Academic Library Facilities Survey is administered by the ACRL/Core Interdivisional Academic Library Facilities Survey Editorial Board and is designed to gather information from all types of academic libraries. It will provide a current and comprehensive portrait of academic library space, building trends, and planning efforts.

In 2024, the questions focus on the responding institution as a whole and facilities in its main/central library. Data collected through the Academic Library Facilities Survey will be available at the institution and aggregated levels. Future surveys may look in greater detail at renovation projects and plans for future library facilities.

Your responses should reflect the state of academic library facilities in fiscal year 2024 or the 2023-24 academic year. Fiscal year 2024 is defined as the current or most recent 12-month period ending before October 1, 2024. For US institutions, data should be reported consistently with the institution’s IPEDS Unit ID. Please submit only one response per institution.

You do not need to complete the survey in one sitting: your responses save each time you click the "next" button at the bottom of a page and you can return to complete the survey later. To assist preparation of your responses, download a PDF of the survey worksheet. You can also find an FAQs document here. If you have questions about the survey, please contact acrlbenchmark@ala.org.

Results from the 2024 ACRL/Core Interdivisional Academic Library Facilities Survey will be available in ACRL Benchmark: Library Metrics and Trends. All institutions will have access to summary information and subscribers will have full access to the data.
