AI and the Writing Profession Survey 2026 |

Welcome to the second annual comprehensive study of the impact of artificial intelligence on the writing profession, including journalists, authors, copywriters, ghostwriters, and technical writers.
Since last year, discussions about AI have become pervasive. Attitudes are evolving as rapidly as the technology itself. This survey aims to accurately measure those longitudinal shifts and to discover:
• What changes have happened in how writing professionals use (or don't use) AI tools?
• How is the technology affecting their day-to-day work and livelihoods?
• What is the long-term impact of AI on their jobs and profession?
We invite you to share your views ands shape this vitally important conversation. Your responses will help writing-related industries address challenges AI is creating, based on in-depth data from writing professionals.
This survey takes approximately 15 minutes. All responses will be confidential; only aggregate or anonymous results will be published or shared. We will publish a report summarizing the results early next year and make it freely available.
