Hosted first in 1895, the Annual Dinner & Business Awards is the Metro Chamber’s longest running event. Since its inception, business leaders, community stakeholders and members come together annually to salute board leadership, recognize the changemakers in our region and celebrate the Capital Region.
The 132nd Annual Dinner & Business Awards is scheduled for January 22nd, 2027 at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center.

SACRAMENTAN OF THE YEAR
Awarded to an individual who has demonstrated leadership and continuous service to the region through the promotion of inclusive economic growth, community involvement and quality of life. Nominator should consider information about the nominee such as previous honors, awards and recognition received. This is the highest individual honor awarded by the Metro Chamber annually.

BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR
Awarded to individuals who, during the past five years, have made significant contributions to the development of business and the region’s economy. Nominees should also have demonstrated professional accomplishment, as well as a commitment to the community.

AL GEIGER MEMORIAL AWARD
Al Geiger was the chairman of the Sacramento Black Chamber when he died suddenly in 1994. This award is meant to honor someone who has served as a role model to the community, specifically to motivate people to serve the community. It is not specifically designated for minority awardees, but is intended to recognize someone who has been a mentor or motivational force to minority or disadvantaged populations.

SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
Awarded to a small business that has a history of outstanding business practices in the six-county region and has acted in support of the small business community. This award is to honor the entrepreneurship, sustainability, productivity and effort put forth in a small business. A small business is recognized as 20 employees and under. (This award is intended for a business versus an individual.)

Each year the Metro Chamber recognizes local businesses for their longtime and significant contributions to the economic, civic growth and well-being of our community. All Business Hall of Fame recipients are companies that have made the six-county region their choice for business operations for more than 50 years.
