Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan is seeking applications from resident and student members of MAFP who are interested in serving as a 2020 Michigan delegate / alternate delegate to the National Congress of Family Medicine Residents or National Congress of Student Members, respectively.

The congresses will convene during AAFP's National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students, July 30 - August 1, in Kansas City, MO.

The Foundation will select one resident delegate, one resident alternate delegate, one student delegate, and one student alternate delegate from the applications received by April 1. Each delegate / alternate delegate will receive a Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan scholarship of up to $1,000 following the conference to help cover conference-related expenses (e.g., conference registration, airfare, food, lodging).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Delegates
are responsible for:
  • Attending the conference and all sessions of their respective congress
  • Casting the Michigan Chapter’s vote in elections for national resident and student officers
  • Polling their colleagues about issues or concerns that could be the basis for a resolution
  • Participating in writing, debating, and voting on resolutions
  • Attending the Michigan Reception on July 31 
Alternate Delegates have the same responsibilities as Delegates, except that they do not cast votes in the elections.
 

ELIGIBILITY 
  • Must be an MAFP resident or student member, with preference given to residents and students who have shown previous involvement in MAFP and/or Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan committees and/or initiatives.
  • Are able to attend all conference sessions and activities, including the Expo Hall grand opening; all sessions of their respective congress; Reference Committee hearings; the Michigan Reception; and education sessions throughout the conference.   • Are required to submit a final report of their experiences at the conference, due to MAFP by August 15.
