MAFP's philanthropic arm, Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan, is seeking applications from Academy resident and student members interested in serving as Delegates to the 2018 National Congress of Family Medicine Residents and the National Congress of Student Members, respectively. The Congresses will convene during AAFP's National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students, August 2-4, 2018, in Kansas City, Missouri.

One Resident Delegate and one Resident Alternate Delegate, plus one Student Delegate and one Student Alternate Delegate, will be selected by the Foundation from the applications received by April 1, 2018. Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan will provide a scholarship of up to $1,000 to help cover Delegates' tconference-related expenses, such as airfare, food, and lodging.

Delegates are responsible for attending the conference and all sessions of their respective Congress; casting the Michigan Chapter’s vote in elections for national resident and student officers; participating in writing, debating, and voting on resolutions; and attending the Michigan Reception on August 3.

Alternate Delegates have the same responsibilities as Delegates, except that they do not cast votes.
 

REQUIREMENTS
  • Delegates and Alternate Delegates must be MAFP members, with preference given to residents and students who have shown previous involvement in MAFP and/or Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan committees and/or initiatives, and who are committed to staying in Michigan to train and practice Family Medicine.
  • Delegates and Alternate Delegates should plan to attend all conference sessions and activities, including the Expo Hall grand opening; all sessions of their respective Congress; Reference Committee hearings; the Michigan Reception; and education sessions throughout the conference.   • Delegates and Alternate Delegates are also required to submit a final report of their experiences at the conference, due to MAFP by August 15, 2018.
