Consent for Participation in Research Study: IRB 2242088
You are being asked to participate in a research study designed to explore values and attitudes. We are asking both members of the Uniformed Services, broadly defined for the purpose of this study as people who have served in the military and/or as first responders (police, fire, EMS, rescue) and non-Service Members to complete this survey. We acknowledge that first responders represent a much broader group of professionals. The principle researcher for this study is a doctoral candidate in the Graduate School of Psychology at George Fox University under the supervision of Dr. Carilyn Ellis, Psy.D. We are asking both members of the Uniformed Services and non-Service Members to complete this survey.
What the study is about
The purpose of this research is to explore the relationship between personal values and mental health. We hope that further understanding this will help us develop treatments that are more personalized and helpful to members of the Uniformed Services. Civilian participants also provide useful information and are encouraged to participate.
What we will ask you to do
We will ask you to complete several combined questionnaires that investigate values and mental health. These assessment measures are "non-invasive,” meaning they will not require you to do anything more than think and answer questions. We will then look at your results and use statistical analyses to determine if there are potential relationships between values and attitudes.
Voluntary Participation:
Participation is completely voluntary. It will not affect your ability to receive future mental health care, participate in future research, and results will not be provided to your chain of command or professional institution. You may begin participation in this study and stop participation in this study at any point in time. You may complete one section and decide not to complete another.
