Emerging Scholars Program (ESP) - Spring 2026 Application - Part 1

This is Part 1 of the Spring 2026 Emerging Scholars Program application. After completing Part 1, you still need to complete Part 2 forms (Please see here).

If you have participated in the Emerging Scholars Program (ESP), and would like to continue your research with your mentor this semester, you do NOT need to apply again here. In this case simply send an email to undergraduateresearch@citytech.cuny.edu with your mentor's name and a copy of your transcript. If you participated in a prior semester but have a new mentor for this semester, you need to resend a signed Part 2 ESP application with your new mentor's signature.

The Emerging Scholars Program provides a $500 stipend for full-time students (enrolled for 12 or more credits) and a $250 stipend for part-time students (enrolled in 11 or fewer credits) for conducting research with a faculty member. The purpose of the program is to provide students with an opportunity to apply what was learned in the class room to discover new knowledge, solve real-world problems and develop professionally while working with faculty to advance their scholarly endeavors. The program includes specially designed workshops offered by the Undergraduate Research Committee and others, and participation in a poster session. This is the online component of a two-part application, to be filled out by the student interested in participating in the undergraduate research program.
