Academy of Inclusive Practice Planning Committee

CAPCSD is a volunteer-based organization that provides the best solution-centered support for CSD programs. CAPCSD volunteers are the organization's backbone and help us serve our 360 member programs and 4,000 faculty.

In addition to your contact information, you will be asked to provide your CV and answer the four questions below to demonstrate your interest in experience, expertise, and commitment to volunteering on a CAPCSD committee. Please be prepared to answer each question when you apply. Each question has a 100-word limit.
  • Please describe event planning and CEU Planning that you have conducted at your university program, or for your state association or for a national association. Describe the type of event, the budget of the event, the number of attendees, and the number of presenters that participated.
  • Describe the qualities or characteristics that you possess that make you a good fit and good add to the Academy of Inclusive Practice Planning Committee.
  • How will you balance committee activities with your professional duties and commitments? What time and effort can you commit to participate in the work of the committee?
  • What lived and professional experience do you have relevant to CAPCSD’s mission and vision, and how will you use them to bring CAPCSD forward?

CAPCSD Academy of Inclusive Practice
The CAPCSD Academy of Inclusive Practice, formerly the DEI Academy, functions as a professional learning and transformation hub designed to advance equity-centered practice across roles (clinical educators, faculty, researchers, and administrators) while focusing on human-centered leadership, well-being, and innovative strategies for managing the complexities and responsibilities of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as described in our Code of Ethics.

As an Academy Planning Committee Member, you will:
  • Directly influence the design and success of the 2027 Academy of Inclusive Practice.
  • Help identify and develop session topics and speakers.
  • Contribute to strategies that promote leadership, well-being, and best practices in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Support the creation of additional resources and networking opportunities for attendees
  • For this role of Academy of Inclusive Practice Academy Planning Committee Member, we are seeking three (3) audiologists and three (3) speech-language pathologists.

What kind of time commitment can I expect?
  • Activities of the Academy of Inclusive Practice Academy Planning Committee include program and event planning, reviewing presenter proposals, shaping learning objectives, and supporting follow-up initiatives such as webinars.
  • This is a working committee. Members can anticipate meeting monthly for up to 90 minutes with some offline work and during the initial planning process meetings may occur every week or two to get the planning started. The anticipated workload, including meetings, is approximately 5-7 hours per month.
Desired Qualifications
Interested candidates must meet the following required qualifications and be willing to carry out the duties of the CAPCSD Academy Planning committee as outlined below:
  • An appointment at a CAPCSD member program.
  • A working knowledge of planning, promoting education programs of excellence, a strong knowledge base in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (preference will be given to those with prior experience planning events with ASHA, CAPCSD, AAA, NBASLH, or your state association)
  • The ability to network with professional peers and serve in a volunteer role.
