About this survey
Last year the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner ran our first youth consultation and more than 1000 young people responded across Dorset about how safe they felt and what would make them feel safer. This year we are asking more questions on some of the themes that came out of last year’s consultation to better understand young peoples’ experiences. Your answers will help the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office understand what matters to young people and decide where to focus work and resources in the future.
Taking part is voluntary
You do not have to take part in this survey. You can stop at any time. There are no right or wrong answers.
What information we will collect
We will ask questions about your views and experiences. We do not need your name or contact details, and you should not include anything that could identify you or anyone else.
How we will use your information
We will use your responses to understand patterns and issues affecting young people’s safety and wellbeing. We will only report the findings in a general, anonymous way (for example, as totals or themes), so individuals cannot be identified.
Our lawful basis for using this information
We collect and use this information as part of our public task, to help us carry out our role in keeping communities safe and improving services for young people.
Who will see your answers
Your answers will only be seen by staff working for the Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner or organisations working on our behalf. They will not be used to make decisions about you personally.
How long we will keep the information
We will keep your responses only for as long as necessary to analyse the survey results and plan future work. After this, the data will be securely deleted.

You have rights under data protection law, including the right to ask how your information is used.
