2026 Strategy and Statecraft Fellowship Application

Thank you for your interest in the CSIS Strategy and Statecraft Fellowship. Please review the expectations of the Fellowship below before beginning your application. Applications are due by Sunday, December 14 at 8:00 pm Eastern Time.

Fellowship Qualifications:

Each applicant should have ten or more years of experience in their chosen career field.
Ideal applicants to the program should have some experience with strategic, corporate, or policy planning.
Applicants should be interested in national and international policy but need not have deep backgrounds in national security or foreign policy.
Fellows will be expected to keep up with 3-5 hours of reading or other materials per month and to contribute personal experiences and views to group discussions.
CSIS will place a high priority on recruiting a diverse and inclusive cohort.
Fellows must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must either be based in the Washington, D.C. are or be able to travel to Washington, D.C. for monthly dinners at their own expense.

Dinners: The Fellowship will be conducted through seven dinners in 2026 beginning in April and ending in November at a location in Washington, D.C. The dinners will be discussion-based and will feature regular participation from senior U.S. and allied government officials, former officials, and subject matter experts. Fellows will be expected to commit to attending all of the dinners when considering acceptance into the program. CSIS will not cover travel costs for participants to attend the dinners.

Summit: In addition to the dinners, the Fellows will be expected to join a multi-day summit in early 2027 at a location outside of D.C. CSIS will cover all costs related to the annual summit.
