OPEN CALL: BARNÓ 2026 – WEST ICELAND CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL!

OPEN CALL FOR BARNÓ – BEST MEST VEST! 2026

Applications and ideas are now being accepted for Barnó – BEST MEST VEST! 2026!

Barnó is West Iceland’s collaborative children’s culture festival, where children and young people can enjoy, create, and participate in a vibrant cultural life across the region. The festival will take place in October 2026, and we are now looking for exciting performances, events, and creative projects for children and young people aged 0–18.

We encourage individuals, artists, groups, associations, schools, institutions, and other creative actors to submit ideas for performances, workshops, creative projects, music, dance, theatre, and everything else that brings joy, sparks curiosity, and inspires the creativity of children and young people. We especially welcome projects that promote inclusion and celebrate the diversity of our communities.

Please note that events must take place in West Iceland between 1–31 October 2026. Financial support may be available for selected projects.

All submitted performances and projects will be reviewed by the Barnó Steering Group, which is responsible for selecting the festival programme.

Application deadline: 10 August 2026
