Live Theatre's North East Playwriting Award is solely open to all writers over the age of 16 who are from, living or working in the North East of England

For clarity, we shall be going by the local authority definition of the North East region, which is made up of the following areas: Northumberland, Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside, Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland, County Durham, Darlington, Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, Redcar and Cleveland, and Middlesbrough.
