Regenerative Viticulture Foundation:
The RVF One Block Challenge
Your donation will support the expansion and impact of the One Block Challenge, now in 9 regions (soon to be 10!) across 4 continents. It's aimed at enabling grape farmers to try out regenerative practices in a collaborative way without 'betting the farm' on the outcome.
It brings together a group of neighbouring farmers who are interested in trying out some regenerative practices. They each choose a block or parcel of vines that they would like to dedicate to the challenge for a year, and all test the same practices that are relevant to their regional context. At the end of the year, they do the same soil health tests and see if there have been any changes. They meet on each other's farms, communicate in their peer groups and learn from each other while each only committing a small proportion of their own land. While there might not be a huge change in one year (as ecosystems rebalance over time), we are seeing it spark curiosity, accelerate the pace of change, and create amazing supportive peer environments, all while reducing chemical inputs and increasing biodiversity in vineyards. Your donation will help us to continue to support these farners, to ensure materials are specific to regional context, and to consolidate and publicise our learnings.
