BCREA REALTOR® Director – Position Available

BCREA is the provincial association for BC REALTORS®. As a champion for the real estate sector, BCREA advances REALTOR® professionalism and ensures the REALTOR® voice is heard, for the benefit of consumers and communities, across BC. By working in collaboration with the province’s real estate boards, our mission is to provide professional development opportunities, advocacy, economic and policy research, and standard forms so REALTORS® are trusted, respected, and proud of their profession.

We are looking for several REALTORS® to sit on our Board of Directors to help set the organization’s strategic focus, engage in meaningful discussion about the future of the real estate profession, and provide direction to BCREA’s professional staff on priority projects.

DIRECTOR ROLE
You will be a part-time volunteer on the Board of Directors, working closely with the BCREA CEO. The Board’s role covers a wide range of responsibilities, including setting BCREA’s strategic goals and objectives, financial oversight, ensuring qualified management, overseeing BCREA’s business and activities, reviewing its material risks, and overseeing a succession planning process to ensure continued leadership.

DIRECTOR COMMITMENT
As a BCREA Director, you are required to attend the following meetings which are generally conducted in person but sometimes via video conferencing:
  • BCREA Annual General Meeting –March 24, 2026
  • Board of Directors’ Orientation – March 25, 2026
  • Board of Directors’ Meetings – six throughout the year with shorter monthly updates in between
  • Board Committee Meetings – depending on the Committee, this ranges from monthly meetings to four times per year
  • Additional meetings may be required
BCREA Directors are provided an honorarium of $310 per meeting, reimbursed for their expenses, and provided funded opportunities for professional development. Previous BCREA Directors have talked about the opportunity for personal and professional growth in this role, ranging from the people you meet to the knowledge and experience gained.

DIRECTOR QUALIFICATIONS
As a member of the Board you can provide wise, thoughtful, counsel on a broad range of governance issues. You will have high performance standards and respect for others, and a preference for team performance over individual performance. Ideally, you have experience on a volunteer board and a firm understanding of governance best practice.

A strategic and critical thinker, you will contribute to the BOD and the profession’s vision for the future in serving REALTORS® throughout the province and the consumers they serve. Board members are expected to serve on board committees according to organizational requirements and are compensated for their travel expenses.

The role of a BCREA Director is to consider and represent the best interests of the provincial organization as a whole, not the interests of a specific Real Estate Board or the REALTORS® in one geographic area.
