Indian Mounds Drive is a unique stretch of road and riverside greenspace along the Grand River, connecting Grand Rapids, Grandville, and Wyoming. The area is known for its natural beauty, quiet character, and connection to nearby parks and trails. It is also home to the Grand River Burial Mounds, one of the most significant Indigenous cemeteries in the Midwest. The corridor serves as a 4-mile bike path and one-way road from Wilson Avenue in Grandville to Market Avenue in Grand Rapids, linking to Millennium Park and the larger Kent County trail network. It is a critical connection within the Grand River Greenway, helping to unite communities and natural spaces along the river.
Grand River Network, Kent County Parks, and local partners are exploring ways to make this corridor safer, more welcoming, and better connected for people walking, biking, fishing, and enjoying nature, while protecting its cultural and ecological significance. The Grand River Burial Mounds area holds significant cultural and historical importance—future plans for this area will be guided by tribal leadership.
