Introduction

The Partnership for Food Protection is conducting a review of the Basic Level (Gen Ed) competencies that are part of the FDA National Curriculum Standard (NCS). The NCS sets forth the competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities) needed by Basic Level regulators of human and animal food.

Basic Level regulators are food protection professionals who are newly hired in a local, state, or federal agency. These individuals have developed skills through formal education, training courses, and on-the-job training activities, often working with more experienced regulators.

You will be asked, on the next few pages, to rate the appropriateness of each competency statement using a 4-point scale, along with a "I Don't Understand" selection in case you're not sure what the competency means.

There is also a Comment Box at the end of each section where you can suggest changes (edits) to the existing competencies, or suggest additional competencies that should be added to the NCS, based on your regulatory expertise.

The Basic Level of the NCS comprises 28 content areas. This survey addresses Transportation and should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
