The New Code McKinney project has been making progress, and now we’d like to hear from you again!

The public draft of the Development Standards sections of the code is now available for review and comment. This installment includes the following articles and sections:
  • Article 2: Landscaping, Tree Preservation, Parking and Loading, Architectural and Site Design Standards
  • Article 3: Subdivision Standards
  • Article 4: Signs
  • Article 5: Exterior Lighting
  • Article 6: Fences
  • Article 7: Stormwater Management
Additionally, many new definitions related to content in these articles have now been included in Article 9: Rules of Construction and Definitions.

Since many of the questions in this survey relate to the draft, we recommend that you look through the draft before you respond.

General changes incorporated into these sections of the Code include:
  • New format, graphics, and page layout to make accessing information easier
  • User-friendly features like one-click cross-references to help users more easily navigate the document
  • Language has been condensed and simplified to express requirements more clearly.

This survey is 12 questions long, and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. It will remain open through October 24, 2021.

You are welcome to respond to all of the questions, or just those for which you have feedback. If you have any questions or additional comments, please send an email to:
