The Town of Lincoln is committed to ensuring we provide services in an effective, efficient, and financially sustainable way. Each year, the Town prepares and approves an annual budget to address Council and community priorities, operations, services and infrastructure, and asset management. Council and staff make strategic decisions to balance affordability with service delivery levels.

As we prepare for 2021 budget deliberations and approval in December-January, we want to hear from you. Your input will help us better understand which services are a priority to you.

A portion of every tax dollar is used to provide more than 90 programs and services to ensure an excellent quality of life for residents, including road maintenance, waste collection, parks, and recreation. For these programs and services, based on the average assessed home at $388,000, residents paid an average of $1,731.48 in property taxes (2020).

Financial Sustainability

The Town, like many other municipalities in Ontario, are faced with multiple competing priorities at budget time and throughout the year. From aging infrastructure, inflationary pressures and limited funding sources, local municipalities go through a strategic and deliberate budget process to ensure high quality services for our community, while keeping affordability for our residents top of mind. The Town must consider the various funding sources available such as tax levy, user fees, reserves, and debt and how the management of these affect the long-term financial sustainability of the Town.
