The Ontario Food Collaborative (OFC) is a unique partnership that brings together municipal public health and waste management professionals, along with community-based and academic partners. Together, we share resources and align education and outreach efforts to promote food literacy, healthy eating, and food waste prevention.
We believe that integrating food waste awareness into food literacy programs across diverse environments presents a valuable chance to minimize the loss of edible food throughout its journey — from production to purchase. We take pride in the OFC’s ability to bring together diverse voices across the food system.
Our Collaborative:
- Unites stakeholders from public health, waste management, academia, and community organizations
- Embraces a holistic food systems approach in all our initiatives
- Focuses on advancing food literacy and healthy eating
- And most importantly, shares resources, information, and expertise to advocate for meaningful policy change
Our key priority areas include:
- Strengthening our network and partnerships by helping members connect and collaborate
- Sharing promising practices and resources with members and others who can benefit from our work
- Advocating for policies that address food waste and healthy eating, while improving systems of support
- Implementing a sustainable funding strategy to ensure long-term impact
