STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of this research is to investigate how public reports regarding aviation manufacturing safety influence the trust and ticket-purchasing behaviors of travelers who fly frequently.
DESCRIPTION AND TIME COMMITMENT
If you agree to participate, you will complete an online survey. The survey will take approximately 3-5 minutes. The questionnaire includes items regarding your flight frequency, your awareness of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) findings, and your perceptions of aerospace brand integrity.
ELIGIBILITY
To participate in this research, you must be 18 years of age and older.
And must be a frequent flyer. A frequent flyer is defined as having flown on a commercial airline at least twice in the past 12 months.
PARTICIPATION IS VOLUNTARY
Your participation is voluntary. You can decide to participate or not participate. You may withdraw at any time. You may skip any question you do not wish to answer. If you do not want to be in this study or withdraw from the study at any point, your decision will not affect your relationship with, or services you receive from, SIUC.
To withdraw from the study at any point by closing your browser window. If you withdraw your participation, already collected data will be discarded. If you complete an anonymous survey and later request to withdraw your data, this may not be possible as the research team is unable to identify anonymously collected data.
RISKS AND BENEFITS
We do not anticipate any risks from participating in this research beyond those encountered in daily life. There are no direct benefits to you for participating. We hope to learn more about the intersection of organizational safety culture and consumer behavior in the aviation industry.
PRIVACY, CONFIDENTIALITY, AND DATA SECURITY
Research data will be stored securely, in compliance with Southern Illinois University Carbondale standards. We will make every effort to ensure that only authorized members of the research team have access to identifiable information, if collected. You should know that in some cases we may have to show your information to other people. For example, university personnel, research sponsors, government officials, and/or safety monitors may need to review the research records to make sure the study is done in a safe and appropriate manner.
When completing an online survey, it is possible, although unlikely, that unauthorized individuals could gain access to your responses. Third-party applications used in this study may have their own privacy and security policies that you can find on their website. No guarantees can be made regarding the interception of data sent via the Internet; however, we anticipate that your participation in this survey presents no greater risk than everyday use of the Internet.
SHARING DATA COLLECTED FROM THIS RESEARCH
De-identified data from this research study may be shared with the research community at large and used for future research projects without additional informed consent. For confidentiality, we will remove any personal information, if collected, that could identify you before files are shared with other researchers. Despite these measures, we cannot guarantee the anonymity of your personal data.
