Village of Fraser Lake Official Community Plan Update Round 2 Engagement Survey

The Village of Fraser Lake is updating its Official Community Plan (OCP) to guide the community's growth and development over the next 20 years, as required under the Local Government Act. The first round of engagement took place in June 2025. The feedback helped to inform the draft OCP which is now available to view on the Village's website linked here.

Foster Economic Sustainability and Local Resilience:
Support year round employment opportunities, tourism and small businesses while ensuring economic development aligns with environmental stewardship and community values

Protect and Enhance the Natural Environment:
Preserve Fraser Lakes forests, banks, beaches and shores through sustainable land use, conservation efforts, and climate resilient policies that safeguard ecological health for future generations.

Promote Community Well-Being and Inclusivity:
Strengthen social connections, health services and recreational opportunities to foster a vibrant, resilient and inclusive community that recognizes and honours cultural heritage and traditions.

Expand Housing Choice and Availability:
Encourage diverse and attainable housing options that meet the needs of residents while balancing growth with infrastructure capacity and the community’s unique small town character.

Invest in Infrastructure and Accessibility:
Improve roads, sidewalks, water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, public spaces, and essential services to enhance mobility, safety, and overall quality of life while ensuring infrastructure keeps pace with community needs.

New policies and objectives include encouraging more residential housing forms, promoting a more formalized downtown core and maintaining industrial land so that we can strategically activate economic opportunities. New policies and objectives include plans to enhance climate resiliency and to further support the Village’s current Tree Plan through increased urban tree canopies.
