Introduction
The Carer Council is a ministerial advisory council of approved foster and kinship carers in South Australia that provides advice to the appointed Minister responsible for the Department for Child Protection (South Australia).
The Council endeavours to consult the South Australian carer community on topics related to foster and kinship care that it is working on.
We are seeking carer feedback on the topics below to assist the Carer Council:
-Best experience of family contact
-Sibling connections for children and young people in care
-Education for children and young people in care
About the survey
There are some mandatory demographic questions in the survey to help the Carer Council to determine the reach of consultation. However, all other questions are optional. You may provide your feedback on as many or as few of the questions as you like.
The questions allow for you to select some commonly identified issues, as well as some areas we have heard good things about. These have been identified through previous feedback provided by carers through mechanisms such as The Independent Inquiry into Foster and Kinship Care (2022), and CF&KC-SA's annual surveys. Some have come from Carer Council members, themselves, where the feedback pool is limited.
Please be assured that previous feedback on these issues will already be taken into account. However, this is an opportunity to provide further feedback directly to the Carer Council if you wish to do so.
Carer Council members will have access to your direct feedback from this survey, and CF&KC-SA will also collate the feedback into a report for the Carer Council members to summarise common themes.
We are not collecting any personal information on this survey. If any personal information is provided, it will be deidentified.
