Fire mitigation landscape work: For example, take away dead tree branches that are next to fences.

Water savings: By planting native plants, we could save 8 million gallons of water every year.

Air quality improvement: Native plants need to be mowed less often than Kentucky bluegrass. Gas-powered mowers make exhaust fumes, which can make poor air quality days worse.

Plant biodiversity: The project goal is to provide at least 30 different plants. These plants will help bring more birds, butterflies, and other pollinators to the area.

Beautification focus areas: The project will create special areas that look nice and show off plants with different colors and textures during each season

Connecting to nature: Some of the existing and proposed plants have traditional (ethnobotanical) uses. For example, the piñon pine tree grows pine nuts, which people have picked and eaten as food for many years.
