What the placement involves
The KitWorks Placement Programme will deliver a paid, one year training opportunity for four participants and will be based in Glasgow. It will be hosted by four of Scotland’s leading kit suppliers and aims to address skills shortages and importantly widen access to under-represented groups in the TV and film industry here in Scotland. It aims to create a sustainable and repeatable talent pipeline through structured placements and training.
Successful trainees will be contracted for 35 hours a week, paid at the Real Living Wage (£13.45 an hour). As our host kit hire companies’ workloads are driven by industry demands, these hours will be aggregated - meaning your hours may vary slightly from week to week, but will average out to 35 hours a week across the year.
Who should apply

This scheme is open to anyone aged 18 and over who has not previously worked in film or television.

We are committed to widening access to the screen industries and actively welcome applications from individuals who face systemic barriers to entry, including those from under-represented backgrounds seeking a supported pathway into a new career.

All applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English.
Transferable Skills

You do not need prior industry experience to apply. We are looking for candidates with strong transferable skills, which might include:

Asset & Inventory Management: experience tracking, cataloging, or organising physical items.
Technical Troubleshooting: A natural curiosity for diagnosing faults and fixing mechanical or electronic equipment.
Collaborative Teamwork: The ability to work supportively and effectively within a team environment.
Customer Focus: An approachable, helpful manner when interacting with clients and colleagues.
Calm Under Pressure: The capacity to stay grounded and focused during busy, fast-paced turnarounds.
